History
With more than 70 years of existence, at Industria Chilena del Alambre, Inchalam, we are proud to be protagonists of local, regional and national development since our beginnings.
With an area of 60 thousand m2 built, a production capacity of more than 100 thousand tons per year and close to 400 employees, we continue to maintain our leadership in the national market and reinforce our commitment and effort to continue creating an amazing future.
Review some of the highlights of our history in the timeline below:

1947
Industrias Chilenas del Alambre, Inchalam S.A. is founded with the challenge of producing in Chile the basic elements necessary to supply the national market, promoting the industrial development of the country.
1949
We signed an agreement with Compañía de Aceros del Pacífico (CAP) and moved the company to Huachipato’s land in Talcahuano as part of a commercial exchange and expansion program.

1950
Leon Bekaert Wire Drawing Company joins the company, which thanks to its world leadership in the wire market, allows us to make an major step forward in infrastructure and technology.
1954
We inaugurated our plant in its current location, Talcahuano, Biobío Region. The new plant started with an annual production capacity of 11 thousand tons of wire.
1960
In response to the 1960 earthquake, we deployed the Site Plan: we donated land and made loans for housing construction. That same year we reached a production record of almost 23 thousand tons per year.

1986
We adopted Quality Management and Operational Excellence as essential elements of our management. We implemented a participative work style, focused on the satisfaction of our internal and external customers, a philosophy that we maintain to this day.
1991
We initiated multiple works within the company such as a new railroad entrance, operations management building, warehouses, master shop and engineering office.

1997
We celebrated our 50th anniversary by reaching a production record of more than 100 thousand tons per year. More than 900% more than our initial production capacity.
2000
We consolidated our position as the largest national producer of wire and its byproducts, reaching with our products to different corners of the continent. The following year we were certified in the ISO 9001 quality standard.

2013
We inaugurated our new administration building, a bright, energy-efficient space added to our on-site infrastructure.
2020
Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, we made multiple efforts to contain and mitigate the spread of the virus, protecting our employees and their families. Even in the face of the crisis, we achieved good production margins.
2022
We deployed our sustainability model: People and Sustainability Management was installed, together with the Sustainability Committee.

2023
Bekaert gives up its shareholding, keeping a commercial partnership with Inchalam. At the same time, we launched our first Sustainability Report based on GRI standards. In addition, we recertified our ISO Quality and Environmental standards and were certified for the first time in the ISO Occupational Health and Safety standards, all key aspects that are part of our company’s culture and DNA.
